Cabaret circus / new wave band formed in 1986 by former members of Thee Katatonix after their return from a tour of Great Britain. Members Charlie “Mr. Urbanity” Gatewood (guitar, vocals), with Tony Bellassai (bass, vocals), and Tom Warner ‘Andy Small’ (drums, vocals).
Dark Carnival once played a gig where the entire paying audience received (as promised in the promo flyer) “a beer, a cigar, and a slap on the back.”
By 1989 the group consisted of Urbanity with Ken Malecki (bass), and Mark Wordsworth (drums). Their 1989 Merkin single was released on red vinyl. Their song “Back to The Factory” was included on 1989 Merkin Seedy Sampler
