R&B group from NW Washington, D.C. Lineup included Calvin Charity, Jimmy Dougans, Leroy Fleming, Frank Hooker, James Johnson, Wornell Jones, and David Lecraft.
The group recorded at Recordings Incorporated and released a couple of singles. Their 1970 release “Jungle” b/w “That’s The Way It Is” (Innovation 3138) was very popular throughout the region reaching #1 in D.C. The group established an association with Motown’s Eddie Kendricks and became the backing band for the former Temptation on his solo recordings and tours.
On September 4, 1972 they opened for the Superstar Music & Song Festival at the Baltimore Civic Center with Eddie Kendricks, Isley Brothers, Four Tops, Chi-Lites, and others.
In 1976 the Young Senators released the singles “Boogie Music” (Epic 8-50218), and “Ride the Tide” (Epic 12” AS259). Under management of A&D Productions they played Hollywood Palace, Catonsville Community College…
