“The Song Man” could be heard playing banjo and guitar at the Green Hill Lounge on Erdman Avenue in the mid-’50s. As a duo with pianist Frank Maynard (ex-Magic Notes) they often performed at Green Hill as the Revelers. West also appeared at Lorenzo’s Bar & Grill on Belair Road on weekends in ‘68, and in ‘69 featuring ‘Stoney’ (steel guitar ex-Tex Daniel’s band, Rhythmaires). Jimmy continued to perform at Lorenzo’s on weeknights throughout 1970-71.
West released a single on the NY label Kid Cuz’n 3541 “Goodbye Cruel World” b/w “The Eagle, The Hawk, And the Dove.”
