Group originated in the Rosedale/Chesaco Ave. area led by Bob Limmer (drums ex-Dyna-Tones).
In late 1963 Dave Hooper (ex-Eddie Adams & Holiday 5) joined replacing Limmer as drummer. Since the band was led by Limmer, a name change was in order so The Madisons were born. Group at that time was Harry Herzog (guitar), Charlie Baum (bass), Rick Hinkle (tenor sax, trombone), Larry Bowman (tenor sax), and Hooper (drums).
The Madisons worked as backing band for vocalist Jimmy Velvet. In the summer of 1964 they backed Velvet in Nashville. Hooper had left the group prior to the tour, but when the “Velvet Summer” was over, he and Herzog joined The Del Satins.
