An Essex area teen group. Members included Wayne Jones (guitar, vocals ex-Galaxies), Richard Morris (guitar), Gary Gardner (bass), Alan Ridgely (drums), Eddie Bond (tenor sax), and Joe Brieker (alto sax). Ridgely replaced with Dave Hooper.

The Notables played the local teen center circuit before moving on to play house band stints notably at Denny’s Bar & Lounge on Eastern Avenue, and the Holabird Inn. It is also notable to mention that the group performed on television’s Lloyd Thaxton Show.

Morris, Gardner, Bond, and Hooper joined Eddie Adams & the Holidays in 1963. Briecker later played for the Tempests, Admirals, Bobby & the Believers… Jones went on to an un-named group that played as house band at clubs on the block, and after a stint in the service he joined As You Like It, The Three of Us, Rise, and with bandmate Ridgely in the ‘00s with Memory Lane. Bond later with the Holidays…

Wayne’s mid-’60s unnamed group played full time (6 nights) from 1964-66 at Harry’s Corral located upstairs above the Oasis Club. The group included Wayne (vocals), with Bert Zimmerman (guitar), and Bruce Chapman (drums). Zimmerman left the group and was replaced with John Weidinger (guitarist later with the Sentries).

Zimmerman played for Majic in the ‘70s, and continued to be very successful in the ‘00s as Gene Vincentt of the Cadillac Cruisers. Gardner was also with the Cadillac Cruisers…
