Formerly known as the Why Us, Members of Soul, Inc. included James Quinlan (lead vocals), Ken Pitman (lead guitar), Jim Stillinger (rhythm guitar), Don Hladky (bass), Tom Anderson (organ), Tim Kelly (drums), and Joe Montgomery (sax).
Soul, Inc. played numerous teen dances including gigs at St. Bernards CYO, Rosedale Teen Center, Lakeland Teen Center, Brooklyn Park Teen Center, Glen Burnie Teen Center, and Maiden Choice Teen Center… They played at Our Lady Queen of Peace dance, the Town and Country Hall, Kenwood High School. The group competed in battle of the bands contests on May 21, 1969 vs. Visions of Red, and the Young Conceptions. Another battle on August 8, 1969 featured the Soul, Inc. vs. Purple Menagerie, and the Dynamic Henchmen. Soul, Inc. also appeared at The Zoo in Brooklyn, Hilltop Inn…
In 1970 they became known as PSSST.
