Apocalyptic pop-rock group played originals modern 1960s style rock with jazz influences. Formed as a trio in mid-‘80s featuring Chris Schaub (guitar, harmonica, vocals), Richard Schaub aka ‘Rick Ivy’ (bass, vocals), and Rob Skepton (drums, vocals). Their song “Complimentary” was included on the 1988 various artists album “Essential Attitudes Vol. III.” Song was produced and engineered by Ed Czerwinski.
Later members of the Church Mice included Millie Landrum (keyboards, vocals ex-Instant Siberia), Kevin Landrum (guitar), Lou Frisino (drums ex-The Melvyn…).
The Church Mice could be seen at the Marble Bar, Galaxy Ballroom, The Chambers, The Loft, Eight by Ten, Café Tattoo, street festivals, Inner Harbor Mother’s Day Cruise… They shared stages with the All Mighty Senators, Grey March, Reptile House, Thee Katatonix, Pearlfishers…
The group released many recordings including 7” EP “The Churchmice,” “March of The Brine Shrimp,” “According to Mary”… They were featured in Baltimore Music Review.
Landrum and ‘Rick Ivy’ Schaub were later with Waterplanet. Chris Schaub wrote the “Originals Only” column for several years for Maryland Musician (later known as Music Monthly). As of 2012 Frisino was a member of Replaced by Robots.
