Soul / jazz group featuring Judd Watkins (vocals ex-Jolly Jax), Webster Lewis (keyboards – see bio), Willie Barber (drums ex-Groovers), Harold Adams (sax), and Mack Rucks (trumpet). Lewis, Barber, and Adams were formerly with the Imperals. Barber was later drafted and replaced with Jimmy Hopps.

The group appeared at the New Colony Club on Fayette Street, Club Casino, North End Lounge, Uptown Lounge on Edmondson Avenue. They went on to play the larger venues such as Carr’s Beach, Sparrows Beach and the Royal Theater where they backed stars such as Lloyd Price, Supremes, Major Lance, and others.

By 1967 the group was known as the Soulfuls featuring Lewis, Adams, Rucks and a drummer from D.C. They played at the Club Casino.

Barber went on to play behind Mickey Fields, Webster Lewis, Ethel Ennis, O’Donel Levy… Rucks later played for Henry Baker’s Jazz Five, the Adams-Barber-Rucks Quartet, and Carlos Johnson’s Zone 1. Adams played in many groups including a stint with Both Worlds…
