Vocalist and multi-instrumentalist. Barbara was raised in a musical family and was influenced by her dad Dick Riehl (see bio), who was a popular bandleader and music teacher throughout the Baltimore area. As a youngster Barbie studied voice at Towson University and performed with the Dick Riehl Orchestra on Port Welcome cruises along with her brother Bob Riehl on drums.

Riehl studied at the Peabody Conservatory of Music with Paula Hatcher (flute), Greg Hatza (piano), and Kellogg Johnson (sax). Her first pop band originated at Woodlawn High School called Pumphouse. She went on to play in many local jazz and rock / pop groups including The Wave, Natural Wildlife, Odyssey, Al Rossi’s Joy, Monopoly, Admirals, Hubcaps…

In the ‘00s she was a member of the Realbook Players Jazz Group. The group performed on the “The Sally Show” on Montgomery Cable TV.
Barbara worked with the Songwriters Association of Washington doing demo work for songwriters. She managed Riehl Entertainment Services and Riehl Productions. As a music teacher at Victor Litz Music Center, her subjects included piano improvisation, flute, sax, and voice.
