Best known for their imitations of the Temptations, the pre-teen R&B vocal group also covered hits by the Miracles, and James Brown. Members included Kevin McCoy (vocals, percussion), Gregory Wallace (vocals and percussion), Gregory McCoy, Sherman Norton, Leroy Campbell, and Guy Parker. Backing music was usually supplied by the Castelles soul band.
The group won an Operation Champ Talent Hunt and performed at various neighborhood teen centers and talent shows. The Montegos performed at the Laurel Pop Festival in 1969. They recorded an original song “Sock It to Me.”
