Rock band formed in 1969 by Rick Rosenberg (vocals), and Danny O’Neal (guitar). The name Heyoka came from an American Indian term for ‘clown.’ They recruited drummer Larry Hale (ex-Casino Royales). By 1970 keyboard player David Carnahan (ex-Eve Sham) joined the group and brought in his friend Brian (flute). Lead guitarist George Parrish (Mighty Upsetters, Both Worlds) worked with the group circa 1970-72. The Heyokas played progressive rock covers of Jethro Tull, etc. at weddings and parties.

In early ‘70s the group utilized a practice room at Towson State College and provided music for productions by the Towson State Theater Department. Parrish went on to play for Renaud & the Junction. By 1974 Hale left and was replaced with Billy Lipman (ex-A New Day). The band continued as primarily a studio group.
