Musical production group formed by DJ’s Jay Steinhour, Teddy Douglas, and Thomas Davis. The trio signed to Jump Street Records in New York and released a dance cover version of “Love Don’t Live Here Anymore” (Rose Royce) in 1988. In 1989 they released “Don’t Blame Me” as by Sublevel.

The Basement Boys production credits include Ultra Nate (“Blue Notes in The Basement” 1990 Warner Brothers), Crystal Waters (“Gypsy Woman” 1991 Mercury, “Storyteller” 1994, “Who Taught You How” 1998), Karyn White “Hungah” (1994 Warner Brothers), Shamen “Destination Eschaton” (1995 Epic)…

Davis left in 1993 and around that time DJ Spen joined with Steinhour and Douglas. They continued the recording and production of their own musical projects (aka Sublevel, 007, Those Guys), as well as DJ Spen & Jasper Street Company, while discovering and developing many other artists…

Basement Boys were instrumental in the development of dance, house, Baltimore club music, and went on to mix recordings by Michael Jackson, Paula Abdul, Lenny Kravitz and many others.
