An offshoot of the Ganja Brothers and Purple Jimmy. The Essex based band featured Kevin Kulisiewicz aka ‘MC Splif’ (vocals), Larry Bates (guitar), John Volk (bass), and John ‘Nort’ Knorlein (drums ex-Funk Junkies). Their name came from a license plate that Kevin saw GRM 430. They thought is sounded like a cool cop TV show – ‘Grim 430, he’s a tough cop on the street.’ Thus the name GRiM 430.
They were picked as one of best local bands in 2000 by Music Monthly, and again in 2001 by City Paper.
The band performed their last show at the Fish Head Cantina April 26, 2025.
