Perhaps the biggest draw at Baltimore’s mid-‘80s underground all-ages shows, Grey March’s goth/punk sound was frequently compared to that of Joy Division, the British band that became New Order after the death of singer Ian Curtis. Members included Louis Burch aka ‘Trip’ (vocals), Mike Malley (guitar), Stuart Berlinicke (bass), Ron Weldon (keyboards), and Eric ‘Junior’ Weigeman (drums).
Grey March frequented Jule’s Loft/The New Loft/The Eutaw Street Clubhouse, Galaxy Ballroom, Trenton St. Stop, Oddfellows Hall, and DC festivals like Rock Against Reagan.
Their song “Beneath the Sea” was included on the 1989 “Merkin Seedy Sampler” album (Merkin 305).
Burch went on to form The Pearl Fishers. Malley went on to form Cloaca, See Saw, and Harshmallow…
