The “sensational singing discovery” Shirley Fields (sister of legendary sax man Mickey) performed as vocalist for the Pinky Owens Group (see bio). The group appeared as a regular at Chick’s on Baltimore and Greene Streets throughout the late ‘50s into the ‘60s. Also seen at the Zebra Room with pianist Joe Blair in 1960. In the ’60s and ‘70s she sang with brother Mickey’s bands the Tilters, and various other musical groups.
