Ellicott City rock and Top-40 band led by Mark Blankner (keyboards, guitar ex-Vos Cantu Monemus). Blankner’s home near Howard High School was the scene for many jam sessions with young musicians from the area. A group consisting of Blankner, Jim Wall (drums), Steve Smith (bass), Doug Evans (guitar), Leroy Stonesifer (guitar), and others frequently gathered to play music. Mark was a few years older than the others and was experienced with prior groups and recording. Most of the musicians who came through these jam sessions eventually went on to various formations in the Howard County area.

In 1973 the rock and Top-40 band Dan Rivers emerged from Mark’s basement featuring Blankner (guitar), Jeff Colson (guitar), Lee Grove (bass), and Lee Hyder (drums). They signed with Super Sounds and were seen occasionally at Club Brandy in Elkridge in addition to school dances, and frat parties.
