Bluegrass group whose members included Delmer Delaney (fiddle), Billy Baker (guitar), ‘Porky’ (banjo), Anne Wariner (vocals), ‘Boat Whistle’ McIntyre (bass fiddle and comedian ex-Stoney Mountain Boys), Charlie Tomlinson, Smiley Hobbs, Jack Cook, Russ Hooper… Delaney and Wariner had been members of Delaney’s Windy Mountain Boys. The group performed at the Tic Tock Club at Hollofield and Dogwood Roads.
The Shady Valley Boys recorded at Rebel Records. Their song “I Could Change My Mind” was included on the 1997 Rebel album compilation “35 Years of The Best of Bluegrass: 1960-1995.”
Baker toured briefly with Bill Monroe in early ‘60s. He later performed with Al Jones and Frank Necessary in the ‘70s.
