Guitarist Gary Brown, formerly of the rock band The Prophets, and his wife Louise [Morgan] (flute, vocals), performed as a folk / blues duo at local coffeehouses in late ‘60s / early ‘70s. They could be seen at places such as Coffeegrounds on March 5, 1971; the Corpus Christi Church Benefit concert on March 14, 1971 with Joshua, Calhoun, Cabbage, Calico, and Live Steam; the Universal Joint on April 2, 1971; the Towson Presbyterian Church Folk Forum on April 3, 1971 with Sandy Alan Dale, Roger Sherman, and Michael Hunt.

The duo traveled across country the in their VW, finally coming back east and settling in Key West, Florida where they performed at local clubs. Eventually the duo returned to Baltimore where they formed the Lotus Band.
