Pianist, saxophonist, vocalist originally from Detroit. Moving to Maryland she joined Cowboy Jazz as one of her first professional groups… Next, she spent two years as a saxophonist for Roy Boy Slim’s Capitol Offense Horns. She formed the Deanna Bogart Band in 1988 that went on to perform throughout the U.S. and Europe.

She released her first Deanna Bogart Band album in 1990. Her 1992 album featured The Full Service Band of Mac Walter (guitar, vocals –Warmth, Heavy Metal Kids), Steven M. Wolf (bass, vocals), and Tim Biery (drums, vocals), with guests Ron Holloway (sax), Wayne Sulc (sax), Zack Smith (trumpet), and Dave Utter (vocals –Face Dancer). Her band circa 1994-95 included Mac Walter, Michael Jackson (bass), and John Coale (drums). Bogart’s 1996 album “New Address” featured Kajun Kelley (guitar), Eric Scott (bass), and Mike Aubin (drums). This lineup remained intact from 1995 through the mid-00s. Later members included Scott Ambush (bass –Spyro Gyra)…

Bogart and her bands performed locally and nationally. Venues included Margaritaville (Key West, FL where they shared the stage with Jimmy Buffett), Riverwalk Blues Festival (Ft. Lauderdale, FL), BB King’s (L.A., CA), Blues Café (Long Beach, CA), JJ’s (San Jose, CA), Merriweather Post Pavilion, Max’s On Broadway, Hammerjacks, Ellicott Theater (Ellicott City), Last Chance, Wolf Trap, Eight by Ten, King of France (Annapolis), Lurman Theater (Catonsville)… They performed for the half-time show of the Super Bowl on ABC-TV.

The band was a perennial WAMMIE award winner and their recordings and performances received rave reviews in Cashbox, Blues Review, Washington Post, Baltimore Sun, Music Monthly, Downbeat, Village Voice, and other publications.

Bogart also appears on Jimmy Buffet’s 1992 album “Late Night Menu.”
