Blues guitarist/vocalist originally from Chicago, moved to Baltimore in 1988. David Carreon aka ‘Automatic Slim’ learned to play the blues from the many great artists in his hometown.

In Baltimore he played solo, a member of The RevTones, The Kelly Bell Band, hosted blues jams at The Full Moon Saloon…

In the ‘00s his Sensational Band featured Jack DiPietro (bass ex-Paradise Pickers/Rockers), Scott Stump (drums), and ‘Lazy Lenny’ Rabenovetz (harmonica). Other members have included Bill Hyde (piano), Steve Potter (bass), Jim Harrell (guitar)…

Automatic Slim – “Do_The_Pelican”

The band performed throughout the Baltimore and mid-Atlantic region. Seen locally at the Cat’s Eye Pub, Bare Bones, Full Moon Saloon, Eight by Ten, Recher Theater, Frisco Grille & Cantina… Concert appearances include the Chesapeake and Baltimore blues festivals, Artscape…

Their original song “Don’t Come Knockin’” was included on the 2004 CD “Baltimore on Tap” (La Chicka Records), and “Mexicali Hipshake” included on the CD “Severn Soul Revue – Roots Music for the 21st Century” (Severn 0010).

Slim’s record releases include “What Did I Do Wrong” (2005), and “A Yuletide Spectacular Dance” (2006) recorded live at Bare Bones in Ellicott City with his Spectacular Band.

In the ‘00s David continues to perform as a duo with Jim Harrell.
