Sarano’s night club on Rt. 144 in Howard County. I worked there with Sage. You could say the club was a hole in the wall – really there was a recess in the wall about 3-4 feet off the floor where the band set up – always enjoyed lifting all the equipment up there! The place could get a bit rough and I think there was a murder in the parking lot, and eventually the neighborhood forced the place to close. For a while it was the site of Spittel’s crab house. Today it is the 1st Mecedonia Baptist Church.

[Jim Reske] Wow..what memories that brings back. Used to go there every weekend. Unfortunately it was because I was a Howard county cop and we were always going there to break up fights. Do you remember the owners name, Joe? I can picture him but can’t remember his name.
[Baltimore Sounds] I don’t remember his name. One thing I do remember was the smoke was so thick you could cut it with a knife – of course that probably goes for a lot of other places as well! Owners were Sara and Norman.
[Ron Litchfield] I spent some weekends in that shack!!!!
[Ellsworth Hall] The bands really did set up in the square hole in the wall. Our drummer’s crash cymbal was right next to my left ear! A bit tight!
[Joan Simms] Quite an evolution for that building, I’d say!!!
