‘The Master of Soul,’ ‘Doc,’ ‘Soul Stirrer’… Vocalist from East Baltimore’s Somerset Projects, Harry Young (had almost as many nicknames as James Brown!). Along with his band The (7) Brothers they appeared in stints as the house band at the New Colony Club, and the Club Casino. Young was previously with the House Rockers, We Four Trio, and the Tune Toppers.

In the mid-’60s Doc moved to L.A. then eventually found his way to Birmingham, AL and a permanent gig at the Aqua Lounge. He continued to sing R&B, jazz, and soul music. In May 2003 he returned to Baltimore for an appearance at the 1st annual Baltimore All-Star Soul Reunion.
Young’s son is hip-hop MC Labtekwon, head of Ankh Ba Records (see bio).
