R&B group formed in 1970 at Morgan State College by members of the original Whatnauts band and the Landels.
Members included Arthur Grant (sax, vocals), Reginald Wright (lead trumpet), Melvin Miles (trumpet, keyboards), Gregory Holmes (tenor sax), James Lindsey (alto sax, flute), Johnny Foreman (trombone), Leroy Frailing (vocals, keyboards, percussion ex-Reputations), Everett Harris (lead and bass guitars), Anton Scott (bass and lead guitars), Rodney Parks (drums), and Jerry Washington (percussion).
Seen locally at the Chanticleer, Mother Lode’s Wild Cherry… The group gained the attention of Maurice White from Earth Wind & Fire who helped them to secure a recording contract. Signed with Philly Groove Records, their first albums were released on GSF and Soulville labels. The group toured with The Ohio Players, War, Mandrill, Earth Wind & Fire, and others…
They reached the national R&B charts in 1974 with their lone hit “Don’t Fight the Feeling.”
In 1974 they signed with Buddah Records and were showcased at The Apollo Theater in New York. Other appearances included The Spectrum (Philadelphia), The Capitol Center (Largo), and The Baltimore Civic Center, as well as clubs and colleges throughout the area. Their Buddah Records album was released in 1975.
Miles later became a band director at Morgan State University. Parks later with the Big Dog Band…
