Top-40 / funk / dance band featuring Mike Ferrara (vocals), Bert Blizzard (guitar), Herbie Lewin (bass), Mark Tiernan (keyboards ex-Chaun-tels, And the Echoes), Vince Chris (drums ex-Black Foot Smoke, Cousin Fox), and Harold Lloyd (sax, vocals ex-Morgan’s Pirates). Mike Reese (guitar ex-Blitzkrieg) also played bass briefly for the band before joining Spanky.
Sawbuck could be seen at local clubs including Mother Lode’s Wild Cherry, and the Rhapsody.
Chris later moved on to Las Vegas and traveled with the Bruce Westcott Band. He was replaced with Tim Lloyd (ex-Coyote). In the early ‘80s Chris returned to Baltimore and played with the Ravyns, and Main Event…
Blizzard was later replaced with Carl Filipiak (ex-Cain). Lewin was replaced with Rusty Steele (bass).
Tiernan left the band to tour and record with folk / rock musician Tim Buckley. Replacing him in the band was Steve Mitchell (ex-Blitzkrieg). Tiernan appeared on Buckley’s 1973 LP “Sefronia” (Warner Brothers 2157), and the 1974 LP “Look at The Fool” (DiscReet 2201). After Buckley’s death in 1975 Tiernan returned to Baltimore. Ferrara and Blizzard later with Blush… Ferrara and Lewin also with Threshold. Filipiak went on to join Monopoly. Mitchell was also a member of Fable, Spice, Sunset, Meadow…
