Rock and soul group led by Jay Granger (Joe Graves) as vocalist and multi-talented instrumentalist (bass, guitar, keyboards, sax), with Danny Tharpe (guitar, trombone, vocals), Robert Williams (sax), Joe Luppold (keyboards ex-Dynamics, Fugitives), and Kenny Highlot (drums). Williams was later replaced with Ronnie Madden. Jerry Siegel replaced Highlot on drums. Luppold later moved on and the band continued without keys.

The full-time band could be heard on Monday nights at the Tarry Inn, Wednesdays and Thursdays at the Half-Way House, also at the Keystone Inn, Sweeney’s… and many other of Baltimore’s top clubs. As a touring group they performed in clubs throughout the East coast, Pocono’s, mid-western states, Georgetown D.C. clubs…

In 1968 Siegel left (see Joshua) and was replaced with Will Carnes (ex-Triumphs). Granger played with Mod Country/301 Country. Hank Bruce later played for Cream Soda and went on to join Flood,  the Sonics, Satin Rhythm, Persuaders… Additional members during late ‘60s included Johnny Poteat (bass), Dwight Culler (keyboards), Benny Frye (drums), Steve Roberson (drummer from North Carolina)…

Granger led the group that later became known as the New Society. They performed as a house band at Sweeney’s. He later went on to join Sweet Blindness.
