Jazz group formed at Towson State University led by Louis Scherr (keyboards – writer and arranger). The Odyssey included Barbara Riehl (lead vocals, sax, flute), George (bass), Bill Warfield (trumpet ex-Beggar’s Opera, Falstaff), Brad Collins (tenor sax), and Bob Wyatt (drums ex-Essence)…
The group won the “Just Jazz” contest with Stan Getz.
Warfield played with Stan Kenton’s band and later joined Both Worlds. Wyatt later played for Scott Cunningham and O’Donel Levy’s groups. Riehl (see bio went on to join Al Rossi’s Joy, Monopoly…). Scherr also performed with vocalist Brenda Alford. In ‘90s he led the internationally renowned Russian/American Jazz Quintet. He continued to play jazz music in the D.C. area and has released several recordings.
