Guitarist / vocalist performed as a solo folk artist 1965-70 at Patches 15 Below, Crack of Doom/Crack of Dawn, and the Glass Pavilion at Hopkins. From 1968-70 he ran a coffee house in Highlandtown called The Alley Entrance, located in the hall of the Lutheran Church at Band and Highland Avenues. Zuskin acted as emcee and booked many of the best folk acts in the Baltimore / D.C. area including Joel Kilgore, Carol Connelly, Gail Zuskin, Tim Fields, Ron Rogers, and Mike Quitt.
During this period Ron Zuskin met guitarist Stephen Geyer (ex-Curfew) and they formed the singer/songwriter duo Geyer & Zuskin. The duo performed locally and did demo recordings in New York. Geyer eventually found success as a writer in L.A.
Many of Ron’s songs were recorded with a studio group called the Legendary Doolittle Boys (see bio) consisting of former Laymen members Tom O’Keefe (guitar), John Kotrla (guitar), and Cecil Cellucci (bass), later adding Bruce Calvert (keyboards). In the ‘80s they added vocalist Gail Zuskin along with several members of a local club band and recorded the Legendary Doolittle Boys Band album.
