R&B group formed by classmates at Harriet Tubman High School in Atholton. Herbert Holland (guitar) and Charles Moore (piano) were former members of The Imperials. Together with drummer John Jackson, Jr., and saxophonist Winfield Parker aka ‘Little Winnie’ (see bio) they formed the Vee Jays. The group also included vocalist Raymond ‘Tweety’ Jackson.

The group name derived its name from the Vee Jay record label.

Herbert wrote in the Memories/Reflections book of The Harriet Tubman Foundation of Howard County, Inc. that “we played at various local areas, and every Wednesday night we played at the Marriottsville Hall where Tubmanites would gather… the group became quite popular locally for several years.”
