1980s rock band aka U.S.E. played 1960s style psychedelic rock. Their original song “Return to the Psychedelic” was included on the Voxx Records 1981 national compilation “Battle of the Garages.” Their 1984 single “Anything Goes!” b/w “Makin’ My Scene” featured Dennis Davison (lead vocals -concurrently with Alter Legion, and ex-Ebenezer & the Bludgeons), Paul Rieger (guitar, bass, sitar ex-Klangfaarb, Food for Worms), Bob Tiefenwerth (organ ex-Klangfaarb), and Gary Schwartz (drums ex-Sawbuck, Neige) with guest vocalists including the Association’s Jules Alexander with Terry Kirkman, Larry Ramos, and Rick Ulsky. Additional members included Bert Taylor (original drummer).

Their song “A Scandal in Bohemia” was included on the 2005 compilation “Children of Nuggets: Original Artyfacts from the Second Psychedelic Era.” Their song “Welcome Tomorrow, Goodbye Today” was included on CD “Best of Baltimore’s Buried Vol. 2” (OHO Music 053).

Tiefenwerth and Rieger with drummer Rick Taormino later formed Trio Novo (2007-15)… Taylor later with Yankee Rebels… Davison later with L.A. group The Playground who released the 1985 single “These Are the Days” b/w “Cordially Invited” (Carnival Records) featuring vocals by Ceil Strakna. Schwartz played in Horizon briefly before joining Davison in L.A. and forming the group Jigsaw Seen. In 1990 they released the album “Shortcut Through Clown Alley” (Skyclad Records) and a 1991 EP “My Name Is Tom.” The group toured nationally and shared stages with the Smashing Pumpkins and others.
