Vocal / comedy duet Howard ‘Church’ Anderson (piano) and Sylvia Anderson (vocals).
The duo had previously been members of the 1940s group Three Strikes and a Miss that also included guitarist Billy Mackel and bassist Charlie Harris. Mackel went on to become the cornerstone of Lionel Hampton’s band for over 30 years. Harris also played for Hampton then becoming the bassist for Nat King Cole in 1951 until Cole’s death in 1964.
Two Hot Peppers could be seen at Sam Fonte’s Blue Mirror Club, and at the Spa Club. Summer of ‘55 toured Canada.
The Sylvia Anderson Trio continued performing at least into the late ‘60s. Seen as house band at the Shamrock Inn.
‘Church Anderson’ performed as house pianist in the ‘80s-90s at Danny’s 1201 North Charles Street.
