There seems to have been multiple Thunderbirds groups during this era around the Baltimore area. We have done our best to represent them individually, however if you have any additional information please let us know.



Rock and roll band seen as the Tuesday through Sunday house band at the New Hollywood Park in 1962. Seen at the Desert Lounge on weekends in 1964 as the Original Thunderbirds. Lead vocalist was Jimmy Gatlin. The group’s arranger / producer was Warren Magid aka ‘Sands’ Magid. In February 1964 they appeared at Sadie’s Lounge as Wild Bill & the Thunderbirds featuring the “extra added Peaches.” Peaches formerly the lead singer of the Untouchables, and the Upsetters.

Wild Bill & the Thunderbirds consisted of Bobby (guitar), Charles (drums), James (sax), Wild Bill (piano, lead vocals), Leon (bass).
