Funk / blues / rock / jazz / R&B band performed mostly original music with some classic funk. Brainchild of Guy Curtis (guitar, vocals), with Greg Deanda (bass, vocals), Jesse ‘Whales’ Williamson (bass), Ebon Soul (keyboards, vocals), and Lamont Jones (drums). Live performances included the horn section of NowChild & Dr. Jam.

Tha Funkahol-x performed at Fletcher’s, Eight by Ten, Organic Soul Art Gallery, McFadden’s, Wyatt’s Saloon, Mum’s, Café Tattoo, Inner Harbor Blues Cruises on the Black Eyed Susan…

Radio appearances included a live performance on WRNR and interview with Damien Einstein.

Curtis is a veteran of George Clinton’s P-Funk All-Stars and Bootsy Collins Rubber Band. Deanda toured with the Stanley Turrentine group, and recorded on Motown sessions. Curtis and Deanda were both members of local groups Some Friends of Mine, Future Now.

Tha Funkahol-x basically became NowChild Nation in 2005 with members Curtis, and Deanda, with Ben Cowan Jr. (drums), Andre Giles aka ‘P-Funk Dre’ (guitar), Ron Rolling (trumpet), Dave Miller aka ‘Rufus Roundtree’ (trombone), Scott Taylor (sax), and Curtis Gorham. Various versions of this group morphed into ReverbNation, and Let the Monkey Go…
