The clarinetist formerly of the Three Claritones could be heard at Benjamin’s Bar on Fayette Street. In 1956 Harry Steyert and his Girlfriends could be seen at the Quincy Room on Howard Street, and the Manhattan Club. The group included Shirley Tarleton, and Marge Kelley. In 1957 Harry’s New Music band performed at the Blue Mirrors and featured Sharon Lynn, Joyce Damone, Lee Bowers, Ethel Brown, and Lori Allen.
Steyert’s early ‘60s group included Ed Simpson (accordion), Bob Weist (bass), and Sol Losinsky (drums). This group split off in 1962 and became the Improvisors.

During the ‘60s Harry & his Quartet played Dixieland at the Bandbox, Sperl’s, Satyr House… Billed as the “smoothest music in Maryland” his group played the New Twentytwo, the Living Room…
