The Sounds of the British Realm played covers by groups such as the Troggs, Kinks, Animals, Spencer Davis, Vanilla Fudge, Rascals… The original lineup featured Chuck Crenshaw (lead vocals, harmonica, recorder), Rob Fahey (lead guitar, vocals ex-Shandels), Ralph Ridge (rhythm guitar), Chauncey Epperson (bass, vocals), and George C. Bilenki (drums, vocals). Other members were Mike Zapf (rhythm guitar), John Payne (bass), and Jim Porter (bass, vocals)…
Seen at The Zoo on Hanover St. in Brooklyn, Brooklyn Park High School, many CYO dances throughout South Baltimore and Baltimore County. Also auditioned at the Bluesette, and twice played the Baltimore Civic Center Teen Fair battle of the bands.
The group won Battles of the Bands at the Glen Burnie Armory, Owings Mills Armory, Denton Armory, and Annapolis Armory.
They made TV appearances on the Kerby Scott Show, and the Ron the Zoo Keepers Show (of the Zoo Club in Brooklyn).
After The Sounds of the British Realm disbanded Rob, Chauncey, and George started Fire, Water, and Earth. This was a short-lived group in 1968-69. When Rob and George started college in fall of 1969 they ended the group.
Crenshaw’s later groups included Strider… Fahey went on to join the Bristols… Zapf was also a member of The Souls of Britton…
