R&B / funk studio band formed by vocalist Sylester ‘Les’ Parson (see bio), and Guy Curtis Davidson (guitar, vocals ex-Turning Point, Hot Flesh) upon his return to Baltimore from touring with Hot Flesh. They recruited Stanton Greene (keyboards, vocals ex-Persians), Greg Deanda (bass ex-Stanley Turrentine group, Motown sessions), Dennis Pearson (guitar ex-Turning Point), and Tony ‘Bones’ Anderson (percussion ex-Trinidad & Tobago Steel Orchestra) to form Some Friends of Mine. Studio recordings included “(Do That Dog) Bow Wow Wow,” “You Don’t Know Nothing (About the City),” “Grandma,” “Vibrations,” ”Blue,” and the local television show theme “Say Baltimore.”
‘Say Baltimore’ was featured as the theme song for Parson’s entertainment and variety show on WMAL-TV. Written by Deanda-Parson-Greene-Davidson, featuring Davidson on lead vocals and the group Airwater providing background vocals. The record was produced by Parson and published by Exact Change Music.
The group later became known as Future Now.
