As a young teenager, Alana had the opportunity to travel to New York with hopes of making the big time. She recorded a single “Wrong Number” b/w “Shades of Yesterday” which was backed by New York studio artists and singers. The record didn’t get much attention, but back in Baltimore she had earned a reputation among friends of being a recording star.
Shor became the lead vocalist for the popular band the Uptowns who were transitioning to being known as the Scottsmen, then renamed Alana & the Scottsmen. The group played throughout the local teen center circuit and became the Hullaballoo Club band.

Alana went on to front many bands including Fresh Air, Magnificent Seven, Mourning After, Summer’s Misfits, Bum’s Honor… She also did a late ‘60s promotional recording for the Baltimore Bays soccer team titled “It’s A Gold and Red World” (penned by WCAO DJ Alan Field).
Shor is probably best known for fronting the popular Paper Cup in the ‘70s/’80s who became Shor Patrol and received a major label recording contract. After a brief reunion of Paper Cup in 1987, she joined the Jamie LaRitz Group, then John Palumbo’s Cruel Shoes who released a CD in 1992, and she later replaced Patti Reese as lead vocalist for Junior Cline & the Recliners.

After retiring from performing Alana began working as a talent agent for Starleigh before opening her own Bandhouse Entertainment. Currently she operates her own Shor Entertainment Agency.
