The Rogues of Arbutus captured first place in the Battle of the Bands held on Sunday, October 30, 1966, at the English Consul Volunteer Fire Department. There were five bands participating. Members of the band Mike Gervinski (lead guitar), Gary Strine (rhythm guitar), Bruce Simpson (bass), Eddie Nuessle (drums), John Sasser (sax), Harry Wink (trombone), Bob Flurie (trumpet), with dual vocalists Barry Stephens and Terry Carter.
Managed by Mr. George Sasser, the band played the latest teen favorites at teen centers, CYO’s, and church dances.
