Pop / rock and roll band formed by members of the Versatiles who had been working with the nationally touring group of Pete Rubino’s Crackpots. Members through the years included Charlie McCubbin (piano) – later replaced with Lou Voir, Joe Skiavo (tenor sax), Jack Buckley (trombone), Gregory Gaydos aka ‘Gregory G’ (sax) – later relaced with Dominic Russo, Jake Needleman (drums), Carroll Skinner (sax, accordion, piano), Walt B (sax), Al Patacki, and Reds Feehley (tenor sax). The group received a recording contract with MCA in 1957, but shortly afterward Skiavo was drafted, and within a month Voir was called to military duty.

The Punchinellos could be heard at many local clubs including the Surf Club, Minnick’s, Carousel, Green Dolphin, Keystone, Latin Casino… They participated in the weekly Sunday jams at Minnick’s in 1964. The group also toured nationally.
