Vocalist / percussionist began singing commercial jingles as a teenager. After a stint in Las Vegas as a jazz vocalist she moved to San Francisco in 1969 and joined Dan Hicks & His Hot Licks. Together with vocalist Naomi Eisenberg they became ‘The Lickettes.’ Dan Hicks and his group performed a mix of jazzy country western swing and toured worldwide, releasing several albums until their breakup in 1973.
Price guested on Maria Muldaur’s 1976 album “Sweet Harmony.” She joined the Kinks, touring and recording on their 1979 album “Preservation Act II.”
With her (then) husband and former Hot Licks guitarist John Girton they formed the Girtones. Next Price joined Paw Paw, Maryland country swing group Asleep at The Wheel, touring and appearing on their 1982 album “Framed.”
Maryanne worked with several other groups including the Baltimore group Sophisticated Swing. She then moved to Austin where she recorded several children’s albums with pianist Floyd Domino.
In 1993 she released “Etched in Swing,” the first of several solo albums. Subsequent releases included “Hot ‘N Cole” (1997), “Spring Cleaning” (2000), and “Jazzland” (2001)…
