Top-40 band formed in 1973 at Howard High School. “Candymania” soon spread throughout the Baltimore area. The group included former Island members Danny Lough (guitar), Mike Porter (bass), and Mike Lowery (keyboards), with Eddie Libertini (guitar -ex Libertini’s / Seed), and Jim Liller (drums ex-Excursians, Seed). Lough had also appeared briefly as guitarist of the Stoneberry Blue. Lowery had also been with Broth.
Penny Candy was seen locally at Our Lady of Perpetual Help CYO, Howard High School, Ellicott City Middle School, Lion’s Club…
Lough and Porter went on to join Sage. Lough continued with many groups into the ‘00s (see – Lough, Danny). Lowery and Libertini went on to form the band Taxie. Liller later played in Shane and in the ‘00s with Zig Zag.
