Nightingale initially played as the house band at Bootsy’s Show Bar on the Block in downtown Baltimore. Members included Bruce Aist (lead vocals ex-Uncertain Things, Rize, Ames Oakes), Drew Finn (guitar ex-Escorts, Chapparels, Procreation), John Damian (bass), Joe DiMaggio (keyboards), and Jerry Nitzberg (drums ex-Madhatters, Offcetz Groop, Cinnamon Cloud, Uncertain Things, Ames Oakes, Blackfoot Smoke, Fragile).
While a member of Nightingale, Nitzberg entered the WAYE radio sponsored drum solo contest. He won first place for the longest vigorous drum solo with a 20-hour performance! Starleigh Talent Agency picked up the band and booked them at area teen centers, frat parties, and clubs.
Nitzberg went on to join Lee Shane’s Spring Fever.
