R&B group originated in NE D.C. The Neltones consisted of vocalists Cornell Yates (lead), Edward Brown (lead), Walter Russell, and Tyrone Tyson (falsetto), and a backing band. They were brought to the attention of Lillian Claiborne who had them record at Edgewood Studios. Rufus Mitchell in Baltimore released their single on his Ru-Jac Records label. In addition to performing at D.C. venues, Mitchell booked them on his circuit including Carr’s Beach.
