The Marquis won a Battle of the Bands contest at the Idlewylde Teen Center on February 5, 1965 hosted by ‘Emperor’ Paul Rodgers of WCAO. As of January 1966, the members were Dave Jarobe (bass), Al Kirchner (lead guitar), Mike DiPaula (sax), Charlie Murray (trumpet), Bill Fields (piano, trumpet), Bill Fortin (drums), Bob King (lead vocals). Former members included Don Tucker.

The Marquis were also seen at Howard County teen centers, K of C Hall, Ellicott City Jr. High, State CYO dance at Sparks MD, CYO’s: St. Mark’s, St. Dominic’s, Our Lady of Victory, St. Peter’s, Turf Valley Country Club, Howard High, Glenelg High, Ellicott City Jr. High, Mt. Hebron High, Samuel Ready School for Girls, Kenwood High, Idlewylde Teen Center, Pier Ballroom (Ocean City)…
In June 1965 the Marquis along with the Prodigals performed at the official grand opening of the Last Straw Teen Center located at the Kiwanis Hall on Route 144 in Ellicott City.
DiPaula and Murray eventually became members of the Chelseas.
