West Baltimore based R&B group fronted by vocal trio of Billy Griffin (ex-Tempros), with Greg Henry (2nd tenor and lead), and Melvin Henry (ex-Tempros). The group won a local television talent contest on WJZ-TV sponsored “Showcase 13,” singing the Gladys Knight & the Pip’s song “Friendship Train.” They returned to compete in a showcase with winners from the previous six shows, winning with the Billy Griffin original “Will You.” A week after their victory Billy was called on to join the Motown group the Miracles as the replacement for Smokey Robinson who had embarked on a solo career. Members of backing band Jackie Robinson (guitar), Ronald Foy (bass), and Tyrone Robinson (drums) went on to join The Arterials.
