Guitarist Richard Klender was formerly with the Tradesmen, Hot Fudge Sundae, Human Freedom and Security, and Fresh Air before joining the nationally renowned Up with People musical group in 1973… He recorded several LPs in the mid-’70s as a duo with Ted Winchester.

In 1974 he released the album “This Is My Life… This Is My Soul” (K/W 1421) with Ted Winchester (guitar), Scott Wilson (bass), Charlie Deck (keyboards), Tony Sweet (drums), and Winston England (drums). The album was later issued as by Klender & Winchester (K/W 1443).

Klender released an album in 1977 titled “Soft and Hard” (Klenco KM-1005). The line-up included Klender (vocals, acoustic, piano, bass, synth), Lynn Coulter (drums, percussion), Jay Kaye (guitar), Gene Marcellino (bass), Dave Swanson (keyboards), along with background vocalists Debra Fay, Karen Klender, Chris Oliver, Alana Shor, Kelly Angle, Bev Jones, Wayne Keefer, and Don Wimbrough (Shor and Wimbrough of Paper Cup).

In 1985 he released a single on Klenco 8509 “Ocean City Girl” b/w “Jump in The Fire” as by (Steve) Cagle and Klender from their EP “Price of Passion” which was recorded at Richard’s L.A. studio.
