Rock group from Winchester, VA. The group was formerly known as Mod & the Rockers whose 1967 album on the Justice label is a sought-after collectible. Members of Joy included Phil Zuckerman (guitar), Boo Snider (bass), Steve Dorman (B3 organ), and Gary McIntyre (drums). The group released a single in 1968 “You Got Me Hummin’” b/w “Always by My Side” and played venues mostly in Virginia.
In 1969 Guitarist Ralph Fortune replaced Zuckerman who moved to Nashville to attend broadcasting school. Phil eventually returned to the area and played for bands such as Milk and Honey, the Jade Brothers, Animal Crackers…
