West Baltimore based R&B group started in 1972 as a vocal group featuring Guy Curtis Davidson, Allan Harris, Charles Harris, and Nelson Harris. A backing band was later added and eventually Nelson and Alan left the group. Over the course of the band history the band included Howard Moore (guitar), Kenneth Preston (bass), Glen Howard aka ‘Shorty’ Howard (drums), Kenneth Hall aka ‘Ding’ Hall (guitar), Donny Green (percussion), Linwood Bruce (drums ex-Boleros), Bennie Cowan (trumpet), Scott Taylor (tenor sax), William Bailey aka ‘Tank’ Bailey (trombone), Pam Johnson (vocals), Michael Minor (baritone sax)…
Influenced by George Clinton and Funkadelic, the group began wearing funky clothes and developed a hard funk sound. They performed double bills with Brute, Man’s Theory, Chocolate Rain, Sound Experience, and other top local bands. Performed at all the top clubs in the area including the Famous Ballroom, The Scene, Carousel, Alcazar, Moe’s Lounge, Embassy Room, Ambassador, Hollywood Palace, union halls (Cherry Hill, Dundalk, Fireman’s…), officer’s clubs (Ft. Holabird, Aberdeen, Ft. Meade…), cabaret’s, high school proms (Dundalk 1973…), Morgan State Homecoming…
Allan Harris later led the group Perpetual Motion… Davidson had played briefly with the backing bands for the Spindles, and Jimmy Briscoe’s Little Beavers. He went on to play drums with First Class (where he was influenced by Hiram Bullock to play guitar), Julius Brockington’s United Chair, Future Now, and George Clinton’s P-Funk contingent. In the 00’s he worked as a producer at NowChild Studio and played guitar/bass/vocals with funk bands Tha Funkahol-x, and NowChild Nation.
