Classic, Southern and modern rock band based in Glen Burnie. Early formation of the band began around 1972 with Den Marsch (vocals, harmonica), his brothers Bob Marsch (guitar), and Dave Marsch (drums), with Glen Broadwater (bass). Glen left and Buddy Hoffman took his place on bass. The group participated in battles of the bands, and  high school dances.

1970s

Around 1974 the lineup consisted of the Marsch brothers with Kevin Orsie (bass ex-The Id), and Dave Hester (2nd guitar, vocals -Detour). At some point Hester left and was replaced with Mike Bratt. Orsie also left and was replaced with Dale Shifflett. Through the ’70s-80s they played Jane’s Ballroom (Brooklyn), Ted’s Lounge, The 303 Club, New Glen Theater, Gianni’s, Ann Arundel Community College, Towson State…

After a hiatus of the ‘90s, during which some of the guys were members of The Southern Boogie Band, and Perfect Storm (circa 2002-2004).

Perfect Storm played rock classics along with prog rock such as Dream Theater, and Kingdom Come. The band was financed and fronted by Den Marsch (lead vocals, harmonica, voice box), with Dave Marsch (drums), Mark Houser (guitar), Tony Lord (guitar, bass), Don Smith (keyboards, guitar), Dave Marsch (drums). The youngest Marsch brother Ray Marsch occasionally sat in with the group on drums. Jeff Wilson replaced Houser. Greg Fitzhugh was the last bassist for Perfect Storm and Tony Lord switched to guitar. The band had a reputation as a musician’s band and players from other bands would come to hear and watch. Toward the end Den left and was replaced by another lead vocalist.

In 2011 Genghis Khan re-formed as a quartet with Den Marsch, Tony Lord, Bob Marsch, and Dave Marsch. They played at venues such as Gianni’s, Beltway Motel, Tropic Thunder (on Belle Grove Rd.), Dream’s Inn, Reckless Ricks, Brass Rail, The Office…

A 2017 lineup featured Rob Yesker (lead vocals, keyboards and guitar), Den Marsch (lead vocals, guitar, harmonica), Bob Marsch (lead guitar), Kevin Orsie (bass ex-The Id), Butch German (drums), Dave Marsch (drums).

Frederick native Eddie Callan of The Marshall Tucker Band sat in with the band for a benefit show for Reggie Wayne Morris.

Still going strong, but only playing out every other weekend, the 2025 lineup Den (frontman), Bill Manning (guitar), Rob Yesker (guitar, keys, vocals), and Butch German (drums)

Over the past 20+ years the band has played countless venues including Bamboo Bernies, Nabb’s Creek, Brews and Cues, Fish Head Cantina, Coon Club, Reckless Rick’s, The Office, Rambling Pines Campground, Sykesville American Legion, Cancun Cantina, JJ’s Tavern, Henny Mack’s, Muir’s Tavern’s annual block party, parties for The Chosen Sons Motorcycle Club…
