Top-40 / rock band from the Woodlawn area. The group started out playing teen centers and school dances eventually becoming a popular club band.

Fragile was originally a trio featuring Steve Mace (guitar ex-Maypole), Jerry Nitzberg (drums ex-vet of several local groups last with Blackfoot Smoke). Additional members were added including Dave Valente (lead guitar ex-Tempus Fugit), Tim Crisfulli (keyboards), Jim Groszer (bass ex-Groszer Brothers, Playmates, Cobblestone, Beginnings), George Dobash (drums ex-New Diablos).



A July 1975 line-up featured Carl Contrino (lead vocals ex-Tray ‘n The Diamonds, Kotton), Kirk Walton (lead guitar), Jack Cole (bass), Lewis Glick (keyboards), and Ralph Hood (drums).


Fragile performed at the Putty Hill Park free concert on Sunday June 2, 1974 along with Kotton, Appaloosa, Expressway, and Wizard. Also seen at the JHU Rock of Ages concert on February 15, 1975. Also, in ‘75 they held the Sunday and Monday night slot at the Frigate in Glen Burnie. Fragile could also be seen at the Eastwind. The group performed for many benefit causes including the March of Dimes, Muscular Dystrophy Association, Santa Claus Anonymous… They performed a 1975 concert at Essex Community College before a crowd of 4,000.





Cindy Burns joined as lead vocalist. Bass guitarist Steve Lentkowski joined Fragile in the ‘80s. He went on to join Patch and continued to perform in the ‘00s with his band Jig Saw. Also Ben Neil (lead vocals ex-Gratitude). Neil was replaced with Denny Twigg (ex-Majestics, Secrets) circa 1991-93.
Burns later with Saturday… Nitzberg went on to play in Nightingale, and Spring Fever. Cole later with Perchance. Dobash played for the Sentries in the ‘90s. Twigg went on to Power Play, Crowded Stage… Groszer was later with the Majestics… Glick was also with D.C. Revue…
