Vocalist, keyboardist. Graduate of Berklee College of Music. Studio vocalist of many genres although primarily R&B and jazz.
Vocalist and multi-instrumentalist began singing in church at a young age. Rooted in jazz, she eventually sang various styles of music from jazz, R&B, funk, rock, country… In ‘90s she was introduced to producer Charles Dockins (B-Town, Baltimore Soul Tree) and began singing house music. She later worked with local artists DJ Pope, Basement Boys, Ultra Nate, Juanita Dailey, Cyrus Chestnut… Also with many other major artists including Wynton Marsalis, Robin S., Nona Hendryx…
Leader of band Sheila Ford & Friends. Vocalist with Washington Jazz Ensemble, Bobby & the Believers, Raggs & the All Stars Big Band. Performed all the major concert halls throughout Baltimore/D.C area, as well as national and worldwide tours. In addition to performing, Ford is vocal instructor at Maryland Conservatory of Music.
